The London Print Design Fair 2019

Me and 2 of my University friends went to the print fair held at the business design Centre in London. I was imagining it to be a buzzing experience but I am disappointed to say that I felt a little deflated and was glad that I hadn't gone to London to just visit the fair.

There were 2 floors of example fabrics on racks showing different designs. The exhibitors didn't seem that helpful and I must say I felt a little unwelcome. In my mind I was hoping to be inspired get contacts and gain knowledge of wholesale but it was very quite and business like with retailers being very closed to conversation if you weren't ordering anything.

A couple of ladies were going to different stands asking if they would supply to there start up business. And after following them and listening in it was apparent that not many manufactures would. There seemed to be a minimal ordering system. This seemed quite harsh but I guess thats what the economic situation must be like at the moment with BREXIT.

Being optimistic we soldered on and took away with us some conclusions. Maybe we went on the wrong day? Maybe they all went out late the night before? But on a more serious note is the textile business in difficulty? are businesses struggling to sell their fabrics at this time. I feel a little scared that jobs are difficult in fashion and textiles and wondering if I will have one at the end on my degree yikes.
