Screen printing part 2

Today we used our photo sensitive screen to screen print. We have four different sorts of fabric to try out.

Cotton Troy  - medium weight cotton

Cotton Drill - heavy cotton with a bias line.

Twill Silk - heavy silk floaty fabric

Wool dealing - medium open weave

As in the previous guidelines mask of the screen and prepare your fabric with tape. If you want to decorate you fabric with underline colours and shapes of your own choosing and let to dry.

It is good practice to not hold equipment over your fabric as dripping can occur.

Line up you screen over your dry fabric and apply procion dyes to the top of the screen, with a squeegee the correct size for the frame. Pull down the the ink using the squeegee at a 60 degree angle be firm but not overly so that you you short drags. The amount of times you pull the dye over the fabric depends on the type of fabric i.e. light fabric less pulls. Pull up the frame like opening a book and bingo ! Your print is there and looking fab.
