Today I visited the Somme to Armistice Exhibition in the Millennium Library in Norwich. I wanted to go to see some regimental maps that I have been inspired by when visiting Norwich Castle museum. Unfortunately I couldn't see any maps but that didn't matter at all. It was full of inspiration for my studies and I learnt a lot to. I was particularly shocked with the propaganda that went on with the enlisting of solders and the directness of the posters, also the Officers Manual to the western front. This contained lots of detail like how to dig a trench how to follow protocol during open warfare and also how to play a football game with illustrations on how to set up a pitch. Its a very interesting part of our history and am definitely going to read more.
