A few weeks back David introduced us to E-Textiles, electronic textiles. I have experimented a little with e-textiles in my job as a textile technician in a high school, but it was good to see what else is out there. Clothing is being increasingly connected to electronics. They are building tech into clothing to keep you warm, for lighting and even for medical purposes as in the instance of heart rate monitoring. Imagine clothes that can automatically zip up or loosen and tighten especially for people with mobility problems, this would be great and I believe it is coming.
In the lesson we completed a very simple electric circuit which was great fun.
I cant wait to get started and have ordered some to try including button snacks for clothing. That when you snack together it creates a circuit and turns on an led. This would be great for children's coats in winter.
