The application of Devoré Paste is where you overlay fabric with a chemical that burns away the cellulose fibres contained in the fabric leaving the animal or man made fibres behind.

Fabrics that are burnt away include viscose, linen, and rayon. mixed fabrics might be Viscose and polyester/ Silk and Viscose/ silk and viscose velvet.
1. Tape down fabric
2. Use stencil/prepared screen print or hand application of the Devorè Paste on to fabric.
3. Dry paste
4. Put fabric under heat press paste side up and covered with parchment paper at 180c for 30 seconds
5. Rinse fabric in cold running water making sure you are holding the fabric under the water rinse and dry.
6. For velvet do 6 pulls on the screen and only 4 for others.
You can use procion dye to act as a block for the paste.
1. Print the fabric where you don't want the fabric to be burnt away.
2. Then steam and dry the fabric. Do not rinse the fabric.
3. Apply Devorè Paste all over the fabric and dry.
4. Heat press paste side up for 30 seconds at 180c.
5. Rinse fabric in cold running water making sure you are holding the fabric under the water rinse and dry.
Above is just after being heat pressed you can see the fabric has been burnt ready for rinsing.
